This is definitely my go to Vietnamese food in town! Not only is the food super authentic and flavorful, the location is also super convenient as well. I've eaten at many Vietnamese restaurants but this one is the one to beat! I love their broken rice platters, and the noodle soups are great as well. My favorite is their red rice with a fried egg in addition to any platters and a salted plum soda drink! Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially with their speedy service!

Every time I come here, I always get the huge rice plate with the 10 different types of protein.  It is a huge platter that is easily shareable between 2 people.  It seems like each time, the platter's type of protein changes by a little bit (i.e. sometimes has beef, 2 different types of egg rolls, etc.) but the usual types are the grilled pork, nem nuong, grilled shrimp, egg patty, tau hu ky, egg rolls, and bi.  You also get some pickled veggies on the side and choice of white or red rice.  I always get the white rice.  For under $20, this is a solid lunch for 2 people.  Very flavorful and filling!

I didn't enjoy the food or the experience the last few times. So I will look for other places for Com Tam

We were recommended to Com Tam from a friend and all I can say, it was one of those neighborhood gems for authentic Vietnamese food.

I went with the "Grilled Chicken with Red Rice". I believe the price is around $9. The grilled chicken piece served was thick and the appearance of it looks mighty tasty. There's a brown sauce that goes with this on the side and it gives it a bold, sweet, and salted flavor. Without the sauce the chicken is flavorless. The red rice is pretty much tomato rice, it was slightly seasoned and of course it compliments well with everything on the plate. Also, I would add a fried egg on top for that savory experience. Included is egg rolls, steam egg cakes, cucumbers, pickled carrots and cabbage. For those who are in the mood for grilled chicken, this is it.

Our second order is one of their specialty platters. We went for the 7 item plate and for starters I would prefer this choice. You can eat a variety of different items and It's like an Asian sampler on a whole different level.

First off, the "Broken Rice" is white rice but with plump textures and shorter grains. "Egg rolls" were super tasty due to its extra crispy wrappings. "Grilled Pork" was tender, easy to eat, and delicious. "Chinese Sausage" has a leaner taste but slightly sweet. "Steam Egg Cakes" to me they were like orange colored airy pancakes, it's actually spongy scrambled eggs. "Fish Cakes" they were chewy and lightly seasoned. "Vermicelli Noodles" were topped with grated peanuts and the noodles goes well with the meats. In the end we had a bulk of leftovers to take home. Not too shabby, considering paying $11 gets you a good amount of food.

Our server spoke broken English, but he was friendly and he tried to explain the best he could when we asked questions on certain entrees. You do get a bowl of complimentary soup broth to go with your order.

Com Tam's comforting Vietnamese food wins here.

There was hair in my food how freaking gross!!!!! The location on Brookhurst is way better and it is much cleaner. The soup tasted sour and gross. It was old!!!
